"Nothing is certain in London but expense" Exploring London

London is very much like NYC. There's so much to do and experience. I lived there for a month during college (there will be another post about that) and got to stay there for a week this time around and there's still more I want to see. But for this trip, here's the fun I got to have:

West End Theater

  • Every time I go to London I make the effort to go and see as much theater as possible. Unlike Broadway, (and this is not hating on Broadway) theater in London is way more affordable. So I did what I could to see as much of it as possible.

  • Heathers: Unfortunately you will not be able to see it on the West End anymore as I saw their closing performance. But you can see it touring the UK! My former boss was on the creative team for this show and I was so glad I got to see it. It was amazing to see so much of his humor come through the show and seeing people loving it. Essentially loving him. Being that I love, admire and respect the boss man so much, it was amazing to get to experience that.

  • Cabaret: I truly cannot recommend this show enough. I will talk about this show with anyone and everyone. When it goes to NYC, please go.

  • Guys and Dolls Immersive Experience: Honestly, I'm not a fan of the musical. But this was a really fascinating way to see it. The stage was on a moveable platform and there were audience members standing around the platform, moving with the show. It truly helped keep the show alive and moving.

  • Harry Potter Parts 1 and 2: This was a last minute addition I'm glad I made. If you watched the movies and didn't read the books, you'll be able to follow along just fine. It honestly didnt feel like I was watching two very long shows the time flew by. It was a fun day out at the theater!

Royal Albert Hall

  • If you're really into theater, go check it out. Otherwise, a stop you can miss. The history of the space is really cool. I have it on my bucket list to see a show or event here one day.

Walking Tour and Churchills War Room

  • I booked this tour through, you guessed it, GetYourGuide and I'm really glad I did. The guide was really nice and incredible in showing the history of the city.

  • Churchills War Room was a separate part of the tour that I did on my own. World War 2 is a period of history I couldn't get enough off so I had to go see it. Churchill is also someone I know my grandfather greatly admires and respects so I couldn't resist getting to see it so I could send him photos!

London Beatles Tour and Abbey Road

  • Honestly, I think you could skip this tour and just go and see Abbey Road Studios on your own...

Buckingham Palace The State Rooms

  • Honestly, one of the cooler things I've done. You're not allowed to take photos so you actually need to enjoy the experience and take it all in. I LOVE THAT!!

Sherlock Holmes Museum

  • A Harry Potter tour of mine got cancelled so I went to check out the Sherlock Holmes museum. Unfortunately, I was not enough of a fan to fully appreciate it - but if you are - go check it out!!

James Bond Walking Tour

  • I did this to strictly for my grandfather since this is probably his favorite franchise of all time. I spent the entire time telling him any Bond facts I could. There wasn't much. It was basically the Walking Tour I mentioned above with a side of "oh yeah and the scene from the Dan Craig James Bond movie was shot here".

This was a lengthy one folks - and believe it or not - there's a future post to come with more places to see! Hope this is fun!!
